Stephen D. Ballard
Stephen D. Ballard was called to the Bar in 1999, and spent his first year with a leading personal injury firm, gaining significant experience in the presentation of major loss claims including brain injury, chronic pain and psychological injuries. Stephen appeared regularly as counsel in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and at a number of tribunal hearings including acting as lead counsel for a successful appeal of a Canada Pension Plan decision regarding fibromyalgia.
From 2001-2007, Stephen continued his personal injury practice and represented a number of victims of car accidents ranging from those with whiplash to those with permanently disabling injuries. He also was selected as designated contract counsel for ICBC, gaining considerable experience in a vast number of personal injury claims and enjoyed winning a number of trials in Provincial and Supreme Court. Stephen joined our firm in 2008 and enjoys taking the hard fought experience he gained working for ICBC and using it for the benefit of people who were injured in car accidents. He likes seeing their smiles and hearing their kind words when the fight against the insurance company is over.
Stephen chose to work at Cowley & Company because the firm had a reputation for expertise in car accident cases, and he is proud to be involved with a law firm that delivers consistently excellent results for injured victims.
Stephen is a member of the Law Society of BC, the Trial Lawyers' Association of BC, Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch) and the Surrey Bar Association.
Stephen and his family are long time residents of New Westminster, where he spent ten years as the Resident Caretaker of Queens Park and continues to be active in the community. In his spare time, Stephen has enjoyed coaching with the New Westminster Minor Softball Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Shasta Trampoline Club.
